We’re moving...again!

Yes, it was just 2 years ago since we moved to 441 Baker Street from 807, and yep we’re doing it again!

Although it somewhat pains us to leave our existing space behind, we feel it’s the right move for the business in the long run.

After overcoming the initial nerves, we’re super excited about this move. Lots of changes are happening to ensure the shopping experience you’ve grown accustomed to, will be met (or surpassed) at our new location.

Where

Play It Again Kids is moving to 458 Ward Street (Shoe La La’s former spot).

When

We will be out of our existing space May 31st 2020 and we’re aiming to be re-open in early July in the new space.

Our last Shopping Appointment at 441 Baker will be Thursday (May 21st,). However, never fear as our online store is available 24/7 and we'll continue adding to it daily.

Lessons Learned

Our time at 441 has been useful. We’ve learned that being downtown works well, but being in a big space during quieter times is painful.

These are testing times for small local businesses and we are looking forward to a new relationship with understanding, progressive landlords who are willing to work with us during times of crisis.

About Our New Space

It’ll be bright – our new landlords will be adding lots of windows to the space making the natural light fantastic.

It’ll be beautiful – they will also gradually restore the Art Deco façade back to its former glory. Custom double doors and windows, sympathetic to the original design, will welcome customers into an open and airy environment.

It’s a prime location – Ward Street by Baker is a happening retail hub. Right across from Secret Garden Toys, a stone’s throw from the Nelson Museum and just round the corner from Pixie Candy, we should get even more young families finding our store.

Having Silver Lining’s new location right next door, should make one-stop family consignment shopping and drop-off a possibility.

Function meets form – The new space is smaller but after careful planning, we’re confident the layout will work well. There’s easy access to some great storage, and space for a large desk at the back for both sales and consignment in-take.

The space is square vs. rectangular allowing for a better browsing experience, improved visibility and easier communication with customers.

We will still fit in a change room, play space (pending COVID restrictions) and provision for breastfeeding moms. Custom designed and built racks will provide enough space for the vast majority of products, while being roomy enough for strollers.

Sadly it’s still only metered parking available, but the back alley has secure street-level access for pickup and deliveries.
