Our Story

Originally set within a charming early 20th century heritage home in the North end of Baker Street, Play It Again Kids was first established in June 2002 by Caralee McKinney.

From it's earliest days it soon became very clear that Play It Again Kids focus on consigning clothing and equipment for children and parents, provides an essential service to the community of Nelson.

Caralee was commited to creating a store that would help make raising a family in the Kootenays affordable, and provide a greener alternative to shopping new. She was determined that the store stay true to these goals, when selling the business to Ana Luke in 2005. After many improvements it later changed hands to Marsha and then her mom-in-law, Cat Cooper in March 2010.

Play It Again Kids is owned and run by Korina and Andrew Rennie who purchased the business on June 28th 2013. The Rennies made some gradual changes to the business, effectively doubling the retail space to incorporate another room on the main floor and 2 rooms upstairs at 807 Baker Street.

Eventually the business outgrew the cottage, so the decision was made to expand to a larger, and more centrally located at 441 Baker Street, space in April 2018.

However when Covid happened in 2020 the decision was made to move to a smaller but newly updated store on Ward Street where we could save a little on costs, while still be in a popular downtown spot for families with children.
